oh babes, it hurts and I can't ride the horse, and oh babes (i think my spleen has been ostracized)
The subject has nothing to do with what I'm about to ramble about, really, but !!!! For reasons unknown I woke up with the whole 'Oh babes, babes, it hurts babes' thing in my head and I spent a lovely hour at work today watching LOTR extras clips. I still laugh myself silly when I watch that part. Poor whinging Orli.
Anyhoo. This weekend has been most awesome, despite the aforementioned being in lab both days, although I did have a lovely lunch with C yesterday and he told me what the other dudes in the lab have been bitching about (the same things I've been bitching about with the girls- and by things I mean shitty people) so it's good to know I'm not crazy and everyone else is as fed up with certain people as I am.
Late last night and most of today has involved catching up with Supernatural season 4. We're now up to ep 21, which we're saving until the finale is available for dl because, well, agony of waiting.
Oh. My. God. My love for Castiel, let me show you it. I cannot get over that guy (both character and actor). Like, I am head over heels in love. And I want to read so much Dean/Castiel fic it's not even funny. I had a wee look but nothing I came across struck me particularly, so if anyone has any links to any good fic, please link me (hell, Sam/Dean too, please!).
I'm loving where the story is going. I think the writers are very, very clever. They're changing Sam very cleverly, just a little more each ep and it's wonderfully done. I love how Dean and Sam have pretty much changed roles from how they were way back in the pilot. I'm probably in the minority of loving the Sam storyline (I'm glad they've gone this route, because there was always going to have to be repercussions about him having demon blood in him) but I am so dismayed by the whole thing with Ruby. Not that he's boning her or that he's drinking her blood, but how damn awful an actress she is. Now, I couldn't care less who Jared is or isn't boning irl, but I just do not like the actress for one simple reason- I don't think she can act. It's a shame that almost every girl who's in a single ep is coming across more believable than her, and it's that she can't deliver her lines decently or with any sort of emotion. Sorry, ranty, but there must be hundreds of decent actresses out there in Hollywood who would have done the roll justice. I mean, I was thinking earlier about how great it could have been if the girl who plays Anna had played Ruby instead. We would have gotten to see some real connection between the two of them. I guess I'm just grudgy because old Ruby was the only consistently decent female character I'd seen in the show (imo, I know a lot of people will disagree and that's cool, we all have our opinions) and I'd rather they'd killed her off than brought in a watered down version of her.
Er. I maybe get a bit ranty over decent female characters in shows I love.
Anyways, I loved the nod to fandom in ep 18 and I loved, well, pretty much everything in every episode we've watched so far. I'm really looking forward to the last two eps, so much. I'd gotten accidentally spoiled for the last three eps I watched so I had a wee bit of an idea what would happen and yet they were still really good eps. Which is a sign of good writing, I think.
Our love of Castiel has sparked many a discussion about band boys as angels and I've put pretty much every band into a hypothetical situation in my head wherein one of them is an angel/fallen angel/vessel for an angel and it makes me lol a lot. But it has started me writing some AAR GSF so. You know. Ridiculous but fun!
And then the night was rounded off by Dude, Where's My Car and I feel this needs to be said: More movies should have a scene where two hot dudes make out. Like, properly make out. You hear me, Brandon Routh/Justin Long?
I was going to stay up and write for a bit but maaaaaaan, wave of tired. I've not been sleeping much lately, and when I have been it's been a weird mix of really awesome dreams turning quickly into nightmares and waking me up, so I'm guessing I should probably grab it when I can!
