I've been in an arts and crafty, procrastinating work type mood since I got home, so I decided to make a necklace for my friends mum, since she took us to dinner on thursday before the show, and she always goes on about my jewellery making and whatnot. And then I made some earrings. And took pictures of them and thought I'd post them along with the pics of the tiara I made.
Black pearls and white shell, with satin finish yellow and black beads.
I've been thinking about this sort of design for some time, and went and invested in some swarovski crystals at the weekend. This wasn't made with anyone in mind, which is unusual, since normally I only make stuff as gifts, and I rarely wear stuff myself.
Millefiore beads and swarovski crystals on silver wire.
And then there's the tiara, which I still haven't gotten square with the girl I made it for (it's so awkward! I don't know what to say! I'm going to email her about it so I don't have to see her face to face.)
Here it is all packaged up and ready to go. Its, uh, in a Fiorelli purse box, cos that's how I roll. I really enjoyed working on it, even though it was the first thing I've ever made where I've had to sit down and draw out a design completely and show samples and stuff.
A closer view (ignore my bitten fingernails). It's pearl, pearlised bead and swarovski crystal on a silver band. It's just very simple, the point being that she'll still have some decoration in her hair when she takes off her veil for the reception.
Not that I'll get to see it cos I'm not going to the evening reception due to...differences with the recipient and also the fact that pretty much no one else from the lab is going for similar reasons, but I hope she looks lovely in it and that she actually, you know, pays me for the damned thing
So. This is how I spend my life when I'm not in lab or doing bandom related stuff. I kinda love doing it a lot.
