Guilty Pleasure # 1532
Lately I've been enjoying Kanye West's Gold Digger. I can't help getting up and dancing to it. No matter how many times I've heard it, the song always makes me grin. While it might be a nice dream for little girls to want to be a gold digger when they grow up, I don't think I'd want to walk around all day in the 60's lingerie that the girls wear in the video. I can't really wear those outfits to court, can I? And what would the neighbors say?
The part I like best is "but when you get on, he'll leave your ass for a white girl." I'd like to thank Mr. West on behalf of all the white girls out there because we don't usually get much mention in rap songs. In general, we don't have the asses, dance moves, etc. that they like to praise.
The downside about writing this entry is that the radio stations will soon be (and probably already are) saturated with this song. I'll quickly get sick of it and then get mad at allowing myself to be lured into a craze. But the entry just had to be written.
