Tuesday evening Daniel and I drove up to Prattville to meet Shannon and baby Anya for dinner at Beef o'Brady's. On the way up I started feeling a little nauseated and dizzy in the car. It got a little better at the restaurant itself, but I still felt kind of off. I kept it simple with Sprite and chicken tenders to eat and hoped that it was just because I hadn't eaten in a while. I had to be at work early the next morning so after dinner we went home and pretty much straight to bed.
Yesterday morning I felt horrible. Every time I moved I felt dizzy and nauseated. I never actually threw up, but there were times when I thought it would be a relief to just go ahead and get it over with it. I felt very sluggish and weighted down all day. I went into work at 6:30 as I was scheduled to because I didn't really have much of a choice. When the other cashier came in the first thing I did was ask my boss if I could go home early. I hated to leave them short a person, but I really wasn't worth very much to them as it was. I went home around noon and went straight to bed with a phenegren for the nausea. After six more hours of sleep I felt slightly more human, but still kind of off.
Today I'm feeling that weird almost well feeling that you get after being sick. Mentally I'm much better, but physically I'm still not feeling much like eating anything at all, and my preferred position would be sitting down. To top off this lovely cocktail of fun-times the lymph node behind my left ear is swollen and painful with the pain extending down into my jawline. I'm going to assume that I'm fighting off some sort of stomach virus that's causing the lymph node swelling and the nausea that I've been battling for two days. With Daniel losing his job at Jackson's we don't have insurance any more, so assuming is all I can really do. I'm going to try to use a heat compress on it tonight and see if it relieves the pain and swelling any.
In other related news, we scored a piece of new-to-us furniture this week. My mom's birthday is Saturday and my stepdad's gift to her is a snazzy new tricked out recliner. That means that we got the old, beat down, threadbare recliner. I couldn't be happier. Daniel and I have both been eaten by the chair numerous times since we got it just last night. It can't be helped. As soon as you sit down it drags you into the cushy depths and your eyelids get really heavy. My furniture may not match or be pretty, but it is definitely comfy.
So character thoughts so far: They've all got "boo-hoo" baggage and issues and are appropriately emo for a Final Fantasy game. Except Vanille. Vanille is just plain freaking weird.
- Lightning - Is so tough and hard and broken on the inside.
- Hope - needs a punch in the face or something. I feel kind of guilty because I like his voice actor, but I honestly think the character is annoying as all get out. Snow didn't make your momma go fight kid. She did it to protect you. Now get over your daddy issues and Snow issues and momma issues before I rename you Oedipus Hope.
- Sazh - I <3 me some Chocofro man. But even grumpy (awesome) old guys have baggage in these games. His bit of backstory that I just found out kind of broke my heart. I have theories that involve giant happy endings for everyone, but this IS a Final Fantasy game after all.
- Chocobo Chick - I want one. Gimme.
- Vanille - You are one weird chick you weird chick you. Her accent still annoys me sometimes, but I'm more used it. I'm starting to like her more just because she's so weird. I'm also flat out convinced that she's from Pulse. It makes so much sense. I remember at the beginning of the game the voice over in her weird accent said something about "The thirteen days after WE woke up." Vanille is from Pulse, I'll be shocked if it's not true.
- Snow - Flat and boring so far. I also haven't had much time with him yet so hopefully he'll improve a little as we go.
- New Chick - Anyone besides me think that new chick that captured Snow is going to join the party? I want to know what's up with her being a l'Cie and capturing l'Cies and her brand being funky. Maybe she's a Sanctum l'Cie?
I'm on a Sazh and Vanille section right now, and honestly as soon as I finish this post I'm going back to it. Daniel's working the Capri tonight so I have a nice long evening of sitting in the old squishy chair and killing things.
