So, OKRF 08 was overall a pretty good run. Keli and I had an absolute blast this year, having left the dance team (with much sorrow) and trading that time for time on the streets. It proved to be a good choice

we wanted people to join in on the song at the smoker, and we were thrilled when everyone did. the guys told us way before hand that they had a retort and we planned that. They were always gracious to not upstage us and to 'bow' before us when in fact, sometimes, theirs really was more funny. That was all in good fun and we love it.

Its the whole part about people being disrespectful that bothers me. There were things that we previewed in our show that were used elsewhere by others, and while its flattering, it makes the patron think that someone wasn't original enough to come up with their own stuff.

Keli and I go to great lengths all year long to make sure that what we are doing is not misconstrued as 'someone else's" bit. And just even this weekend, someone said that we were using copyrighted Washing Well Wenches material. We purposefully go to their shows to make sure we DON"T do anything like them. We don't want to be compared to them, and yet someone said we were using their material to bastardize into our own.....

I was REALLY pissed about that!

As a patron who has been to many Washing Well Wenches shows and many Laundry Lasses shows, the only similarities I've ever seen is that you both have tubs, you both get your audiences wet, and you both sing...I don't think any of those can be copywritten.

I can understand how pissed you'd be.

Imitation may be the sincerest form of flattery, but stealing bits & schticks is just tacky, and I know that you guys wouldn't do that.
