Interview Meme

Five questions meme. Here's how it works:

1. Leave me a comment saying, "Interview me."

2. I will respond by asking you five questions. I get to pick the questions.

3. You will update your journal with the answers to the questions.

4. You will include this explanation and an offer to interview someone else in the same post.

5. When others comment asking to be interviewed, you will ask them five questions.

Interview questions by patchwork_grrl

1. What is the funniest thing one of your students has done?

Most recently? Sent me an email after missing more than a month of classes that started with the phrase, "Sorry I missed class today..." Only today?

Back in Santa Barbara, I had a student who told me her mom and dad had died in a car accident in order to get a paper extension. I bought it, but a friend in SAASB called and spoke to the recently deceased parents.

2. Can you describe life in Atlanta in one word?

I was going to say "wilting," but "moist" is so much more uncomfortably suggestive.

3. Are people that touch cheese and rescue pencils from the dirt superior to other life forms?

Indubitably.

4. Who shot first?

Han. Duh....

5. What is the best new text you've encountered this year - movie, book, etc.?

Woah, big question. I'm thinking it might have been Atonement, which really isn't all that new. I am thinking of teaching a class next year with Atonement, Kavalier & Clay, Life of Pi, and Blind Assassin. Perhaps with screenings of The Usual Suspects and Sixth Sense. Bonus points if you can identify the theme.

As far as movies, nothing has earned my absolute devotion lately. Still looking for it. You?
