So, gee darn, I can't go to work because it's been raining since 3:30 this morning with no sign of stopping and everything's flooded so I can't get out of the subdivision. I did try, at about 5:30 this morning, but got stranded in the middle of an intersection (in the neighborhood) because the standing water was too deep to go any further, and I had barely made it through the water behind me. There was another car in the intersection that had stalled out and a cop was...
Damn. The sky just opened up again.
Anyway. The cop said that there were about a hundred streets that needed to be closed, and we would have to sit tight until either the water receded or help arrived. Eventually a fire truck showed up and the firemen (cute and young, bonus!) pushed the other car to a drier section of the road, and directed me on a less-flooded route home.
So here I am. Weathermen are saying that the storms are stalled over the area. They used another term, but I can't remember what it is. In any case, they don't seem to be going anywhere.

Our garbage cans, which are normally next to the garage behind the red bush on the left side of the picture, had FLOATED DOWN THE DRIVEWAY to the gates and the bottom of the back-porch stairs.
