I started this for Tarc's loooooong ago issued
Dark Legends Challenge.
Tarc had written a story where one of his OC's (Akasha) witnessed an encounter between Logan and Remy (can't remember which one, otherwise I'd link it). I had already written a few stories for the challenge, mostly focused on the kids - Jubes, and a Jubes/John story - and had an idea where Jubes, John, and Bobby are hanging out with the OC's, and Akasha tells them what she'd seen. Tarc had also requested a little flirting between another of his OC's, Marco, and Bobby.
Bubbles, bubbles, toils, and troubles
Jubilee eased into the swirling water, positioning herself so that one of the jets was at her back, and adjusted the straps of her bright yellow bikini top. She closed her eyes, leaned her head back against the side of the Jacuzzi and let out a heavy sigh.
There was the pad of bare feet on tile, then:
"I hear ya, sister."
She cracked one blue eye and looked up. One of the new recruits, the girl, stood holding a towel and wearing a black maillot.
"Akasha, right?"
The other girl nodded, causing the large gold hoops in her ears to sway.
"Mind if I join ya?"
Jubilee shrugged and closed her eye. "Free country."
Akasha hesitated, unsure of whether or not she was welcome. As she stood debating, two guys wearing swim trunks and carrying towels entered the pool area and made a beeline for the tub. One was tall, tan and had closely-shorn blonde hair. He was wearing black trunks with orange flames on them. The other guy was not quite as tall, with shaggy blonde hair and a big, goofy grin. His trunks were decorated with some old cartoon rabbit. She quirked a brow, Okay.
"Jubes!" Tall, Tan and Blonde called.
Jubilee opened the same blue eye and rolled it in his general direction.
"Yeah?"
"I haven't seen you all day. Where ya been hiding?"
She pulled a face. "Danger Room."
"Ouch." He pulled a lighter from a hidden pocket on his trunks and slipped into the water next to her. The lighter was tucked safely away in his towel, which was folded and set to the side.
Shaggy hair and goofy grin stopped in front of Akasha.
"Hi, I'm Bobby." He extended a hand in greeting; she took it. "You're Akasha, right?"
She nodded; his fingers were unusually cool.
"That's John," he gestured to Tall, Tan and Blonde, who waved a hand at her, "And Jubilee."
"I've met Jubilee already, she was in the Danger Room with me."
"Wow, your first day in the Danger Room and you're still standing?" He gave a low whistle, "Impressive."
"It wasn't that bad," she shrugged, "I kind of like that stuff."
"Wasn't that bad?" John.
"Kind of like that stuff?" Bobby.
"Actually," Jubilee piped up, "it really wasn't that bad today."
The guys looked at her, a bit suspiciously.
"Why not?" John again, settling his arms along the back of the tub and, consequently, behind Jubilee. She let her head rest comfortably in the crook of his elbow.
"I'm glad you asked that, Johnny ol' buddy ol' pal." Her lips twitched into a smile and he grinned. Some things never change - even in the middle of a plague she was eager to dispense fresh gossip. "It seems that The Wolverine was a bit 'distracted' today." She raised her hands from the water to make the requisite finger quotes.
"Was Jean there?"
"Nope."
"Scott?"
Her smile became a grin.
"Nope."
John and Bobby exchanged a look over her head.
"Reeaally." Definite interest on their part. She chuckled.
Bobby tugged on Akasha's arm.
"Into the tub, now. I gotta hear this." He led her to the steps and she sank into the water across from Jubilee. Bobby settled next to Akasha, the water hissing and steaming and dropping five degrees at his entry.
"Ahh…"
"Bobby!"
"Sorry guys." He offered them a sheepish grin in apology and John raised the water temperature ten degrees.
"John!" Jubilee elbowed him in the ribs.
"Ow!"
Bobby snickered and dropped the temperature again; John raised it, and between the two of them, it evened out at a comfortable 110 degrees.
Akasha watched with fascinated amusement. They didn't seem to be as affected by the Virus as the others she'd met. She suppressed a shudder at the memory of her arrival last night. She still wasn't sure what had happened. She wasn't sure she wanted to know, either.
She was pulled from her thoughts when Jubilee said her name.
"Akasha actually knows a bit more than I do."
Both guys turned curious eyes to her, and she felt a light flush stain her cheeks at their sudden - and focused - attention. She was saved from John and Bobby's scrutiny by the arrival of Marco, one of the other new recruits.
"Hey Akasha, Jubilee. Buona sera!"
He crossed the room without hesitation and took a seat next to Bobby in the turbulent water.
"Ahh… Fantastico."
Jubilee laughed and Akasha and Bobby shifted closer to John to make room.
"You must be Marco," John held out his hand, "I'm John."
"Nice to meet you." Marco shook the proffered hand and turned pale blue eyes to Bobby, "You must be the Bobby Drake I've heard about."
Bobby raised a brow.
