Well last Thursday was so friggin’ amazing, I can’t even believe it. Micro lab was short, which is always nice. Went to work for 30 minutes. Went to Ruby Tuesdays to meet Nathan, his parents, and his mom’s parents, who I have never met until that day. Lunch was great. Nathan’s family is wonderful! I love seeing his parents, I’m glad they are coming up for Thanksgiving. Then I went back to work for an hour. Then went home to change... for the Depeche Mode concert!!! HUZZAH! That’s right, Depeche Mode!!
My mom was waiting for me at my apartment, as soon as I was changed and all the animals were happy, we left for Tampa. On the way we stopped and got Dairy Queen, yum. Then safely made it to Tampa perfectly ahead of time and thank god for that. Because for some reason I could NOT turn on this one road. I have to circle the St. Pete forum 3 times before I made my left. But we got there nice and early. Saw the opening band, The Bravery, which were pretty good. The lead singer was a little nuts with the microphone stand, but still good. A little break while the stage hands set up for Depeche Mode... and what a stage!! Of course they had all there crazy screens in the background. But they had a huge metal ball with words like: sex, vice, pain, love, and angel. This world tour is for their new album, playing the angel. Which, of course, is good.
So finally they came out and I went crazy. I love these guys. =) Martin came out wearing a crazy outfit which I loved!! He had a tight black shirt with cargo black pants, a black snow hat... not a beanie, something else...and black angel wings!!! It was great!! Andrew was cool in sunglasses. And David was of course... him. A nicely fitting suit, which didn’t stay on for very long. After the first song the jacket was gone. After a few more songs, no more vest. So for the whole concert he was running around in just his pants. And yes, he was running around. He’s a very physical performer. And he is great shape!!
The concert was so amazing, I was blown away, just like when I first saw them in ‘98. They played a few songs from their new CD, but the rest of the night was really all their greatest hits!! They sang: Policy of Truth, Personal Jesus, Never Let Me Down, Behind The Wheel, Just Can’t Get Enough, World in My Eyes, Walking in My Shoes, Home, Everything Counts, 2 songs I can’t think of the name of... and... my favorite... Enjoy the Silence. I cried when I heard the opening chords. This song means so much to me and they didn’t play it when I saw them in 98. Of course I sang along to EVERY song, but I really sang loud for this one. I was so happy. I want to see them again....
Just a little trivia for you... apparently all of their favorite albums was ULTRA. So if you aren’t too familiar with DM, listen to their CD ULTRA. It’s my personal favorite, along with of course VIOLATOR because it has my favorite song, Enjoy the Silence on it.
2 hours of DM and 2 encores later... my mom and I left, but not without me buying a DM t-shirt! Then we drove home, well, my mom drove home once I got us out of Tampa. I had to sleep, I was drained from screaming, dancing, and singing all night!
Friday I wasn’t tired, even with the lack of sleep. I think I was still so super excited. Nothing else too much on Friday, at least, not that I can remember.
Saturday, Nathan and I went on a 14 mile bike ride. It was really nice! I need to get my bike a little dirty, riding to work isn’t doing the job. We’ve been wanting to go on a bike ride for a long time and we decided that doing something fun and outdoors was a good way to celebrate our anniversary. Then I fell asleep while he watched a movie. Then we watched the game... Go Gators!! Sunday was Nathan and mine 1 year anniversary! We didn’t do anything because we did stuff on Saturday. But we did exchange gifts, kind of. There was no “exchanging” more of just “look what I got you!” I got Nathan a down comforter with a duvet cover. He got me a printer. (I like practical gifts, not romantic ones... it is a nice printer!!) Well, he also got me chocolates, yum. =)
Anyway, lots to do. Graduation in a little over a month, huzzah!
