So this summer has been a peaceful one for the part. Some highlights of the last four weeks:
* my thirtieth birthday came and went quietly, for which I'm grateful. I am not one for celebrating birthdays (either mine or anyone elses) generally but Diesel Playhouse served me a few rounds, some staff brought out a guitar, and we had a bit of a sing-in after work.
* lots and lots of time for self reflection. I like working evenings because every day is a sleep-in day. I can wake up at my leisure, ponder the mysteries of the universe and puzzle out what I'm thinking and feeling and why
* the renaissance fair at Casa Loma was a lot of fun. I was asked to play the role of Cardinal Wolsey from the Henry the VIII period which was a blast. Apparently an evil cardinal is one of my sub-personalities that needed a bit of exercise. The organizers were so impressed they hired me for the mayor of Pirate-town for Piratefest 2008 in Milton. Its nice to see the volunteer gig turn into a paying one. I had forgotten how much I enjoy acting.
* my sister went into the hospital on Monday, and as it was two days before payday and I didn't have two loonies to rub together to take transit I biked all the way to Port Credit. I haven't been on a bike in a decade but there I was peddling away for two hours like a fiend and loving it. It was a real adventure. I love those!
I'm looking forward to the fall though. I am not much of a fan of muggy weather. I can't wait to get out of town again for Piratefest (August 2-4 in Milton). www.fairesintime.com for more details!
