I get the idea that I will start a bardic music night on Wendesdays which ended up turning into a musical quartet.I was asked to perform a few songs for the Witches Ball on Friday night upcoming so I said to myself - why not? So we prepare three songs I wrote, fully arranged with kit drums, djembe, bass, guitar and vocals (main and backup).
Then the organizer Ken calls me Sunday saying the headlining band's lead singer has strep throat and that we need to fill their hour slot.
With 5 days notice.
We have one last practice tonight in which I will attempt to push through an arrangement for a Tea Party cover I was going to open with solo to warm up the old vocal chords.
I guess I will be doing a number songs without accompanyment - which is cool I guess. Its a little more limelight than I had anticipated but it could work out.
When it rains it pours. New job, bouncing baby girl, new band equals a rather frazzled Standley. Its all wonderful and exciting and great - just makes for a full plate.
