back on the farm

I flew back to Michigan yesterday. I just couldn't hang in NYC any longer, and I had a bad feeling I got passed over on that potential compliance job. And while staying with H, G and son in their lovely home in Jersey City was very nice and grounding, I missed my cat, the garden, 50 acres of nature, and certainly L (despite the ongoing emotional roller coaster).

Today I interviewed for a babysitting job in Ann Arbor. It's promising and it's real. Man, I can't tell you how many fake jobs I've applied for lately. Shit like a receptionist job that results in a " you must take a free credit check to continue with the hiring process" identity theft scheme. Yep, I think working a babysitting or some such gig while I apply for big money jobs will do nicely, if I can get the work. Kids could certainly provide some levity to my life, and I've got a lot to offer in the way of art, sports, adventure and fun.

L and I had a long talk last night about just wtf we're doing with ourselves and respective lives, and the answer is: we don't know. So we'll figure it out while living on a farm during the summer. Take it easy. Be nice. Stuff like that. Today we started laying the drip irrigation system for the garden, which is looking really productive and healthy. In the process, all of the Michigan wildlife made itself known. We saw a turtle laying eggs. A deer drinking water. And the resident Canada geese's eggs hatched, so five little goslings were puttering around the pond with their parents. Magical.
