springtime maneuvers

It appears to be spring. The woodland creatures certainly think so... Yesterday I saw at least six deer dining on our grass, numerous songbirds, and a woodchuck. A WOODCHUCK. Does that even happen?? It's so cool seeing wild animals regularly. Wild animals that aren't rats or pigeons, I mean. Morrison definitely is aware of the season shift too--he's making more daring attempts to escape the house and spends many, many hours staring out the window and lunging at squirrels.

In human news, L, a friend of his and I did some serious lifting and moving of furniture today. The new floors are laid (correctly, I might add) on half of the house now, and L and I painted two rooms (more on painting in a sec). As such, it's time to move back into the upper level of the house. Easier than it sounds, since much of the furniture is heavy as hell due to its age and sturdiness. We would have been screwed without some backup, since L's hand is still in a cast and on my best day I can't lift like a dude. I'm strong, but I don't have those kinds of guns.

Ok, and a word about painting walls... shit is more difficult than all that. Taping, edging, rolling... shit, no wonder I never voluntarily painted any apartments. Making color choices isn't a walk in the park either. L and I made a bad call and wound up painting a few walls four times instead of the standard two coats. Props to interior decorators and housepainters, man. Not my bag but I'm glad we're doing it. Our room looks stunning--really classy and smart. I'm looking forward to sleeping in it more than ever now. Oh, and the bathtub... come to me, sweet bath time.
