now *that* was a farm day

Whew, it was a jam-packed day of farm work today. It went like so:

-wake up next to my brilliant and handsome man; do stuff
-coffee, breakfast
-move heavy and less heavy things about the newly renovated barn, up and down ladders and stairs, ~3 hrs.
-oh god bath time
-lunch; purchase Burning Man tickets (I'm finally going!), talk about desert vehicle designs and costumes
-make entries into freshly formed 2011 ledger, review budget ~1.5 hrs
-prep for dinner
-deal with compost situation and new food plants growing in solarium ~1 hr.
-make dinner ~1hr.
-deeeeelicious dinner of braised collard greens w/ black-eyed peas, baked winter squash (and chicken for L)
-whiskey and dessert time--I threw together a peach crisp too
-make fun of stupid Nicholas Cage movie (Knowing)

L continued the barn work for a few more hours after I threw in the towel and retreated to the more familiar setting of desk/computer. He's a workhorse. I'll get there. The good news is that this and last week's desk jockeying on my part produced a working budget for 2011 as well as a general ledger dating back to September of last year, when this dream began. Yesterday L and I met with his financial adviser who said, among other things, that we can make this happen. Of course we can.

So thaw already, Michigan! I've got art to make and food to grow...

michigan, money, art-farm, food, burning man
