come Summer and bring the belly
Tonight I perform a ten minute dance at Ad Hoc Art Gallery in Bushwick. Oh man oh man oh man I hope it's beautiful and stunning and inspiring...
This is going to be a debut, of sorts. By dancing at this art opening we're hoping to drum up business for my classes, soon to be taught there on Sundays. Add to this: I'm the first *performing* artist to collaborate with Ad Hoc in a workshop/visiting artist capacity, which can lead all sorts of fantastic places.
We hashed out the details last night. I'm really lucky to have accidentally reinforced several connections over there, because everything is just falling into place and the people are wonderful. Their HR guy is a doll, drafting up a waiver for the students. I'll still need to sign something, but no big deal. (He said I was one of the easiest artists to work with because I understand and appreciate such matters as liability and responsibility.) I met their website guy too, and he's already put me on the site. A sign up sheet's in effect and work of mouth paving the way. The owners are pretty excited too, and with any luck this will be a profitable venture for all of us.
I feel like I'm going off to summer camp. A creative summer camp... I'm SO excited!
