oh come ON!

Frickin' Macy's, man. After a fruitless yet terrifying trip to Century 21 with Jen, I decided to brave Macy's alone. In search of an off-white sweater, something blue, and perhaps other such career-wear, I instead met with a massive evacuation due to a small fire. No kidding, read all about it here: http://wcbstv.com/topstories/local_story_282172918.html.

I was on the fourth floor or so before I heard someone say something about a fire. Mind you, fire trucks were already outside when I went into the building, but no evacuation had been ordered at that point. (Honestly I thought it was a movie shoot--nothing seems real to me now that PM is in special effects.) It was all very orderly, but I couldn't help be annoyed by the sheer stupidity of people. Here are a few gems I committed to memory...

Woman evacuating Macy's: "I thought I smelled smoke on my way in here."

Twit describing the numerous fire trucks over cell phone: "There's, like, fire stuff everywhere."

Of course midtown is full of tourists and other such idiots, so there where thousands, I mean THOUSANDS of people standing across the street taking pictures of the fire trucks and decidedly undramatic, NOT visibly smoking building.

Shit, at this point if Macy's was really burning I'd grab a bag of marshmellows. I never want to go back. I already never wanted to go back, but now I mean it. I wonder if I can use that $80 in "Macy's money" online. Or to buy crack.
