~epilogue~
~One month later~
Paris is like a dream, an amazing, wonderful dream and Jared would quite happily sleep forever if this is the stuff that dreams are made of.
In fact, everything would be utterly perfect if he didn’t feel a little nauseous right now.
“Dude, I told you not to eat three servings of creme brulee.” Jensen admonishes, although he’s grinning through his glowering expression.
Jared goes to stand over by the guard rail, eager to get his first glimpse of the amazing view. He reaches for Jensen’s hand and tries to pull him closer, frowning when he’s met with resistance. Jared peers over his shoulder and notices Jensen’s feet are apparently frozen to the floor and his whole body is rigid. “What’s wrong?”
“Please tell me you’re not going to hurl from the top of the Eiffel Tower?” Jensen asks, looking worried.
“Wow, you really are the most romantic guy I’ve ever met,” Jared mutters sardonically before breaking out into a fit of laughter, “no, I’m not going to puke. Get over here, why are you standing way over there?”
“We’re just so high up is all.”
“Oh my God, you’re scared of heights?”
Jensen sighs and then twists his body awkwardly without moving his feet to allow a Japanese couple to squeeze past him. He ducks his head and peers out at Jared through long curled eyelashes, “yeah, maybe....”
“And you still came up here with me?”
“I want to share this with you. I want to see your face when you see Paris as it should be seen. I’m having some trouble with the whole altitude thing, that’s all.” Jensen bites his lip and tries to shuffle closer to Jared, who’s still leaning against the railing. “And seriously, I think I’m getting a nose bleed,” he grumbles rubbing his shirt sleeve across his nose.
“Come here, doofus.” Jared grabs Jensen’s wrist and ignoring the other man’s yelp, he pulls Jensen to stand in front of him, wrapping his huge arms around Jensen’s shoulders, holding him tightly to his chest. “There, see, I won’t let you fall.”
Jensen grunts and then, begrudgingly, rests his head back against Jared’s broad chest.
They stay like that, drinking in the view of the Champ de Mars below them, until the sky starts to darken and the viewing platform becomes increasingly deserted. “Man, we should get the elevator before they close because there’s no way I’m doing all those stairs again.” Jensen starts to try and move but Jared’s still holding him tightly. He tilts his head to catch a glimpse of Jared’s face, noticing for the first time that Jared’s eyes are shining. “Hey, baby, are you okay?”
“Yeah, I’m fine...it’s stupid, right? I don’t even know why I’m crying.”
Jensen turns so that he’s facing Jared, chest to chest. He reaches up to tug off Jared’s beanie, tousled dark hair catching the wind and blowing across Jared’s face the moment the hat is gone. “You’re not stupid. You’re just happy. This is what happiness feels like and do you want to know how I know?” Jared doesn’t speak he simply nods his head once. “Because I’m feeling it too and I never had that before I met you. I never even knew what it was. You gave that to me.”
“Fuck, I love you.” Jared says, pressing his lips to Jensen’s in a passionate kiss. Jensen’s hand cups his cheek, his warm palm heating Jared’s face and Jared kisses down the soft sweet scented skin of Jensen’s neck before burying his face into Jensen’s shoulder.
“Can we get down now?” Jensen asks when Jared finally pulls away.
Jared laughs and hugs him again, Jensen’s arm snakes easily around his slim waist as they make their way towards the elevator.
While they stand there waiting, Jared can feel Jensen’s eyes boring holes into his back. “What’s up?
“Did you call your mom?”
Jared studies his boyfriend for a moment, the person who means more to him than anyone else in the world and for once, he knows he’s equally as loved. It speaks volumes that Jensen still makes an effort to be kind-hearted towards his momma, even though she did everything in her power to try and stop them from being together. “I was thinking more along the lines of sending her a postcard.” Jared says with a shrug, smiling when he catches sight of Jensen’s surprised expression. “Way to break the cord, right?”
“Yeah.” Jensen smiles back. “So what do you wanna do tomorrow?”
“I was thinking of checking out the Louvre and I really want to go inside Notre Dame. Perhaps we could fit in Euro Disney at some point too?” Jared asks, face hopeful.
“That sounds like a busy day, when exactly am I going to get to show you just how much of a romantic guy I am, seeing as you’ve put my romantic side into question?”
“Buy me an ice cream before you take me on Space Mountain. That’ll convince me.”
“I was thinking more along the lines of this.” Jensen answers, pulling out a small square box from his jacket pocket. Jensen’s expression suddenly doesn’t look as cheerful as it did before, now he just looks nervous as hell.
“Jesus, Jensen....”
“You don’t have to answer me now, just say you’ll think about it? I love you and I’ll always love you. I’ll wait as long as you need, so take your tim-”
“Yes.”
“Yes?”
“Yes, I’ll freakin’ marry you.” The elevator arrives with a ping and as the doors slide open, Jared pushes Jensen inside, crowding him up against the wall, kissing his lips, his nose, his cheeks-any part of Jensen he can get his mouth on.
“Going to make an honest man out of me, Mr. Padalecki?” Jensen asks breathlessly, trying to control the hard on raging war in his pants.
“I’m going to make you a happy man. I very happy, sated man.” Jared says, reaching over to push the emergency stop button.
“Oh it’s like that, is it?” Jensen’s voice is low, gruff with pent up desire. “Two can play that game,” and the button Jensen’s fingers reach for then is the one on Jared’s pants.
