I wanna cry. Tara has been diagnosed with Cushings, we aren't sure whether it's syndrome(adrenal tumor) or disease(pituitary tumor). I'm praying to God that it's adrenal. That way it's "curable," they could take it out and she'd be okay. The only drug that Dr. Lavell will prescribe is a non-FDA approved drug yo need a waiver for, that is super expensive. But the others are toxic, which is why she doesn't advocate their use and sends you elsewhere if you want it. No matter what you do if it's pituitary, you just make them more comfortable until the end. If you don't treat it there's a multitude of failures and health problems associated with Cushings: liver failure, kidney failure, throwing clots, congestive heart failure, blindness from HBP, pancreatitis and infections.
She's not bad off now, luckily, so other than being crazily expensive it's treatable so that she wouldn't ever have to seriously suffer. With out treatment she still has at least a year or more left though.
Otherwise Easter weekend went well. Tasty dinners, new yarn, new bra, finished up the pieces to a sweater I've been working on forever, finished PH application and got Easter candy. Did however have to deal with dumb dad questions and obnoxious brother.
