East Texas Weekend

Jul 19, 2006 20:25

I went to East Texas to vist my aunt (Beckie) this past weekend. I was headed out there to go to Blake's (Colbey's friend from Houston) wedding. I have met Blake a few times, but I never thought he would be the marryin type. Colbey was going to be in the wedding as a grooms-men. The wedding rehersal was on Friday, and the wedding was sat afternoon.

Colbey and I left Dallas about 3pm on Friday to head out to the rehersal. The wedding was going to be in this little bitty church (that litteraly said 12 people had attended the past 2 weeks...) that was about 40 mins north of I20. We had no idea that it was that far in the country. We got there about the time it was supposed to start, so we were great. I was supposed to stay in Henderson (about 50+ miles from Tyler), and Colbey was going to stay in a hotel in Tyler. The rehersal went fine. The dinner was going to be in a little town about 20 miles east of the church. By the time the dinner was over, people were leaving. Blake asked Colbey to go back to the church and help decorate. I was supposed to go along (we took two seperate cars). However, I was instructed to be at Aunt Beckie's house NO later than 11pm. I knew it was a long way back to the house from the church. Long story short, I ended up going back west towards the church for a while, then decided to leave and go back to the house. I was only about 10 mins late.

Of course Lori Beth wanted me to sleep in her bed. I did for the 4 nights. Some with good nights, most with bad. She is a crazy sleeper, and she likes to toss and turn all over you.

So I get up on Sat needing to leave and get ready for the wedding (started at 2). I didn't end up leaving until about 1. (crazy crappy stuff happened with Lori and Aunt Beckie and Lori's toys, but all is well now, but ended up making me late for the wedding). I got there just as they were playing a song, and about to say their vows (sound familar???). At anyrate, the wedding went off without a hitch. I knew NO ONE. For the most part, no one even cared that I was there, or had the decency to try to figure out who I was (same thing happened at the rehersal). Oh well no biggie. So after the wedding was over, Aunt Beckie was going to be throwing a 50th bday party and inviting all her friends to come out and drink. All was well with that. I asked if I could invite Colbey, so he came all the way out there after the wedding to come to the party. It was alright...funny seeing your aunt (and a bunch of old people) get drunk.

After everyone left, Colbey stayed the night upstairs in the detached garage/playroom. (I am beginging to not want to write...so I'll make the long story even shorter!) Aunt Beckie cooked a wonderful breakfast the next day, and wonderful ribs that evening. We played with Lori for a bit, and got a snowcone, and went to Wal-Mart with aunt beckie. After dinner, Colbey headed back to dallas.

Monday we got up and dropped Lori off at art camp and aunt beckie and I went to tyler to go shopping. We first went to a shoe store for some good tennis/running shoes for school. We  found these great ones that we got. We also got me another pair of cute shoes to wear with jeans, and a pair of clogs that I loved. She got herself 3 pairs of shoes, and Lori 2 pairs of shoes. Then we hit the mall. We went in the Dillards entrance and she bought Lori about 10 pieces of clothes. My aunt could not contain herself. So as we were leaving dillards, headed to the mall, we stopped by the bras. I think we ended up spending about $175 on 2 bras and some underware. I got a bra and 3 pairs of panties (that were $10 each). Aunt beckie got some stuff for her too. So we headed to Lane Byrant b/c she needed to exchange a shirt. She ended up getting a few shirts, and she even said that she was "disapointed that I didn't get anything." Ha. Okay, so then we went to Gap and I got three shirts. We were headed to Old Navy, but we were really hungry and left the mall.

When we got home, we tried to make Lori Beth try on her clothes, but she was being a little brat and crying and crying. Drove me nuts. I have never seen such an ungrateful child in my life. Seriously. So at anyrate, while Lori was in her bath, Aunt Beckie and I started going through her clothes and purses. Long story short: I have about $2000 worth of clothes in my closet now, that either have never been worn, or worn only once. Most of them are high end brands (like Tommy Hilfigure), and stuff from Cato. A bunch of them still have the tags on the garmets. Aunt Beckie goes and buys things, but she doesn't try them on. She gets home, then decides that she doesn't like the way it looks on her, or it doesn't fit, and she puts it back in her closet. She never takes things back. Well I got a bunch of clothes from her, and it didn't EVEN put a dent in her closet. She has more shoe/clothes/purses than any woman I've ever seen. Even more than Aunt Nelda. LOL. She also gave me three purses (two TH - brand new, with tags), and one Angelo Melani.

So I was supposed to leave on Tuesday evening, but my dad called on Monday wanting me to come home then so I could help out with mom. This weekend she broke her tooth, her knee locked up on her so back that she can't walk, and the car had to go back in the shop. I came home Tuesday morning and picked her up from work. It worked out alright. But she couldn't drive the celica, so Dad had to take her to work yesterday and today. She is doing better, and has a dr appt tomorrow with an orthopedic dr.

I had a drs appt today with my GP. Just a check up/physical. Got some shots (feel like a dog saying that)...lol. Anyways, that was my great weekend in Henderson.

Btw, I have decided that I most likely will not live in a major city ever again. I loved the country, and I loved driving up those roads with all the trees around me. It really was very peaceful. I didn't have my radio on hardly at all the entire weekend (even though I put about 300 miles on my car) b/c it was so pretty driving around. Colbey had that same feeling too when we were driving around on Sat. Weird.

Aunt Beckie told me that if Colbey and I ever were to get married, that he would have to do a lot of growing up before that time. I totally agree. Of course it didn't help that he was acting like Lori Beth the whole time (shes in 4th grade) b/c he forgot his meds when he left on Friday. He was driving me crazy. Great playmate for Lori though.

All in all, I had a great time. And that my friends, is the short of my weekend!
