Ok so Monday night I finished HP&HBP.
A little disappointed in some areas... I will review behind a lj-cut for those who have yet to read it...
Ok first of all, first chapter. Kinda of boring. Second chapter... pissed me off.
This book seemed really rushed compared to other books. Summer vacation started, Harry went to The Burrow, what seemed like only a couple days lapse they were on the hogwarts express... harry punched in the nose... "oh were at hogwarts now, bye, thanks for randomly appearing tonks!"
That continued on with the book. Things happened at a rapid pace. Christmas holidays was also really quick.
I was also a little disappointed in the fact that I was pretty sure we would have learned more about Petunia Dursley. No mention of her after the really big "reveal" of book five when she slipped she knew of things in the wizarding world, besides sitting on the couch in the beginning of the book. *shrugs*
The title of the book "Half-Blood Prince," led onto nothing really special (to me at least). It would have been more suiting if it involved Horcruxes since it focused more so on them. Not just a silly book with scribbles done by Snape (who is the HBP).
I also can't belive Dumbledore was killed by Snape.... in all seriousness. A great wizard taken out by Snape.
This book seemed more like a quick filler book than a part of the series. I was not as satisfied with this book as the previous 5.
I don't like the fact that everything seemed almost rushed, and just felt like it was missing something.
I still enjoyed the book though but not as much as the other ones, and after the years i've spent waiting for all the books to be released, I was just a little disappointed in the result of the last one.
Also, what is the deal with first years trying out for Quidditch practice... last I remember, in book one, first years weren't allowed to go for Quidditch... curious as to why they can now without any explanation from J.K.R. hmmm....
