Man Constantine was a terrible movie. There were so many plot holes I could use it to strain noodles. I don't think it's so much Keanu Reeve's acting abilities as it was a shitty director (aparently he usually does music videos... 'nuff said) and shitty script. It's really inconsistant and seems like they did nothing more than pick like 4 religious characters (2 of which being God and Satan) and make up a quasi religous conflict. It _could_ have been a decent movie. One of the only things I enjoyed about the movie was the guy who played Satan.
Here's my impression of the brainstorming for Constantine...
Guy 1: "Hey, ok let's get a badass who smokes a lot. Let's force the fact that he smokes into every scene (no matter how awarkdly). Oh yeah, since he's a badass let's give him kickass weapons".
Guy 2: "But how can we justify a grenade lanucher?"
Guy 1: "Hmmm... Good point. Ah yes! The grenades will be blessed and have crosses on them. Ok and since he's a badass he needs to say witty things like call the demons assholes. Yeah, that's the ticket. Man, this will be the greatest movie ever..."
