The Dog Days of Summer

I was reading "Tails of the Pet Avengers - The Dogs of Summer" and was curious where the old saying "Dog Days of Summer" came from...

According to central brain dump, Wikipedia - Dog Days or diēs caniculārēs in Latin are the hottest days from July to early September. Seems like most of the summer to me... especially in Seattle. Name comes from the belief that Sirius (the Dog Star & terrible satellite radio mascot) was the cause of hot weather.

It also seems like the Dog Days of Summer make some people ecstatically happy and others explode under the heat of sun. I think that it is a more casual time where you relax with friends and enjoy seared pieces of flesh coming off the grill. Seems like work takes on a slower pace as well.

Unfortunately I've been falling into the category of melting down this summer. I started my summer by destroying my friendship with my best friend by doing something tremendously stupid and then tried to be defensive about it. Meanwhile I had a very passionate lover that moved to San Francisco to pursuit her career in the aerial arts and no matter how I rationalize it, I have these feelings of abandonment. I keep trying to figure out what happened and as much as I want to be normal, I'm broken. I have still have issues with being judged, corrected and manipulated by women. It all comes from earlier relationships where I got treated like crap and it made me come up with some shitty coping mechanisms. Just makes me want to cry some days and just get drunk on other days. I put on my bravest face but behind the scenes I'm just lost like a kindergartner. Metaphorically I've lost track of true North and having trouble getting my bearings which is ironic for me.

Ok.. too damn late, should get some sleep.
