Excellent dinner at a cozy restaurant with delicious food (that brand of vegan cheese was surprisingly convincing), and then meanderings, and then friends briefly, and then reading, dessert, and more wanderings.

Seriously, though, the more I read about "hobby farming," the more I think I could do it. The more I think we could do it, possibly, if and when we're established and have a home. It's a funny thought, one that I'll treat with caution- there is the chance that this is, of course, that "honeymoon phase" and all that. But it's a nice thing to keep me warm while I'm falling asleep.

I'm still not sure what I'll do for a career, but having a vegetable garden, some berry bushes, maybe fruit trees, some chickens for the companionship and eggs, maybe some bees for pollination. Cats and chickens, maybe a dog if one comes along. Art things on the side. Obviously we'd need some room, but hey, with how things are going with farming in Detroit, who knows? We could find room. We could do things, good things. We could grow.

I could find work there- maybe not the best-paying job, but something worth doing. Maybe something on the more social end of the agricultural scene. Just the idea of it gets me excited. I can do this. We can do this. Time to call up the Capuchin monks and see if they need a hand with their farm (right after I get my driver's license).
