Speaking of cats....
It was a hard, HARD kitty weekend here at the Nunnery. On Friday eretik came over to steal adopt Shygirl and Scout (on a total side, or not really but I want to make this look casual, as though I'm not emotionally invested at all in the answer, are you considering renaming them? Yes, we are attached to those names, but they are also HORRIBLE names for the poor guys. Except Scout was because of the whole "must see everything FIRST" that she's got, and you see how Shy Shy is. Um. Moving on). That was a hard morning for us, though. *sniffle*
The rest of the family got a late start on the "introduding them to the house". It sounds horrible, and it is, that it's been over a year and Zerk and Val are just coming upstairs out of the basement now. I won't pick bones about that. There were reasons, though. Namely that until this summer, Laure's ex was still living here and he's got fatal allergies to the cats. By then, we had the new kittens and we couldn't bring them up until they got going on their shots. Grim still has one more set plus the rabies, but everyone is up to date otherwise, so it was finally, finally time to bring them up. It wasn't hard to keep things clean when it was just the two. With six downstairs, it was really hard. So, yay.
They came up for the evening on Sunday. They did very well, though Sassy was thoroughly aggitated and Zerk was spooked. Grim's terrified of Orion, and Orion is, in turn, terrified of Grim. At one point, Grim hissed at Orion and Orion fled onto the couch, shoving his way behind g-c, until she was mostly off the couch.
Yeah, Orion's an overweight Keeshund. Grim is, what, less than 3lbs? *giggle*
Zerk hissed at Angel the first day, but yesterday he walked by him without any problem. I think mostly Zerk is scared.
And when Zerky-poo hisses? *I* get nervous. That cat has *TEETH.
Val mostly chills in the kitchen, though she watches all interaction between her kittens and Sassy with a very possessive and warning-filled gaze. She's a good mommy and she's not sure about this other queen. Grim is has a kitten crush on Sassy. He wants to be near her, but after she smacked him, he's smart enough to try to not let her see him. Val and Zerk both make points to be between Grim and Orion whenever Grim gets nervous, and Zerk's plopped himself between Sassy and the others a time or two. Casually, mind you. Regally reclining, but still....
Prin has been the absolute BEST and I grovelled for her forgiveness yesterday, for thinking she'd hurt the dogs. She *loves* them. She sits with Orion. She goes up to him and head-butts him (a trick she learned from her daddy.) She snuggles up to him. She tries to with Angel, but he's too scared. I'm not sure Grim knows what to make of Angel. And they all of them love watching the birds. "We just looking! JUST LOOKING!!!"
By the end of the week we hope to have them up for good, and have Bella's babies moved down there. In other news Little Brother has been renamed Lady Bee because, hey, he's a girl! We musta picked up the other black one that died twice, because they looked exactly alike, that first day. Oops! I still call her little brother because she answers to it. That and Libby. Wanted to name her Goldie, so we'd have the Golden Snitch, but that was vetoed. :)
