A toss-up between Das Boot and The Big Lebowski, and yes, respectively. I do like Mike Leigh, though, so nearly right (but my favourite of his is Topsy-Turvy, which isn't full of gritty urban miserablism).

Topsy-Turvy is great. But the best thing about it, I find, is the way they show it at Christmas and all my relatives who start off by going "ooh, lovely, a period drama" end up very, very confused.
