a few bits and pieces

After my Moscow layover, I've had only turnarounds. It's kind of sad actually, because when I compare my roster with my batchmate, they've done a lot of layovers, nice ones as well. Here is a quick recap of how my days went:

1) Never, ever, ever leave your camera! You never know when there is a perfect Kodak moment! One time, I decided to leave my camera thinking that I don't need to take pictures in this flight, since it was just a turnaround. But guess what, I ended up being the only female crew in the economy cabin and I was flying with 2 gorgeous guys! :) One was Brazilian, my age but was already married. He's a lookalike to Keanu Reeves (imagine!). The other guy, a bit lazy but was such an eye-candy! This one had a liking to Olivier Martinez. So, imagine, me alone with ALL of those guys. tsk tsk.

2) I learned that "Yes" for Indians are "No" for us, by the movement of our heads. That took me awhile to get used to. So, when I asked them if they want some coffee, and they nod their head, I instead give them tea. Haha! Talking about looking stupid. :)

3) Indians are neat with their trays while Europeans are a bit messy.

4) Kids can be lovable at times, but there are moments where you can't help but think that they deserve a good spanking! Aargh!

5) Emirates serve ice cream on board! Weehhh! For an ice cream lover such as myself, I am sure to gain weight! :)

6) Now, I know why crew don't like doing Bombay flights!

After having 4 turnarounds, God has heard my plea. I was pulled out for a trip to Rome. There were actually a lot of mishaps on this flight. But finally I was able to enjoy a few hours touring Rome!

More pictures here.

Rome was lovely. But sad to say, the layover was only for 20 hours. So by the time we got to the Coliseum, it was already closed for tourists. So, we only took a couple of pictures before we took off for the Fontana Di Trevi.

With only just a few hours sleep before the flight, I was already very tired. But Fontana Di Trevi really made my day. Why? I am not a big fan of Lizzie Mcguire, but I particularly loved the movie. Me and my sister watched it several times before. So, when I saw this place, I was so happy. Everything just sinked in on how lucky I was working for Emirates. I get to see places I have never imagine ever seeing before at this age. :)

After several pictures, we get to enjoy dinner at a very nice restaurant. We were so hungry, that we actually forgot to take pictures of the place. It was along the side of the street, with umbrellas and us having a candlelight dinner. It was so romantic. :) It even had a touch of real-life drama, when we watched the police chasing the street vendors down the road.

I only spent a couple of hours, going around the city, but I can't wait to go back. I have so much to see, the Vatican City, the Coliseum and a lot, lot more! Next time, I hope I get to have a direct Rome flight!

Arrivederci! :)
