Exploring The Options

If you don't mind, can you tell me what you'd pay, or what you think you'd see this necklace selling for?

It's so hard to get decent pics of jewelry. This doesn't capture the sparkles of the crystals at all. :(

Materials:
Freshwater pearls
Swarovski crystals
Sterling Silver and silver plated
Platinum grade accu-flex

I'm absolutely clueless when it comes to jewelery as I've only recently started wearing it and really only buy amber so any figure from me would mean absolutely nothing. Did you make this piece yourself? (I have a vague memory that you do jewelery?)

Yeah, I did. I'm pondering putting stuff on etsy, and need to get a better idea of what things would sell for (ie. would I make any money).

Well it's gorgeous.. are those red pearls? Perhaps calculate the sum of all the materials and then do a markup for labour? Sorry, I have no idea how the jewelery world works... though I love jewelery and want to collect some pieces. Do you work with a wide variety of stones? Any amber?

Yes, dyed freshwater pearls. As far as pricing goes - more what I want to know is what people would pay. I can make up a price based on materials and labor, but in my experience people don't tend to pay what it's worth for handmade thing (unless you get lucky and build a rep, or get into a boutique, at which point the sky's the limit). Wedding jewelry would be the exception here - you can charge as high as you want for that and people will pay it.

I do do amber. Actually, I do anything I find pretty.

Do you have any pictures of any amber necklaces or anything like that? It's my birthday next Sunday and I haven't figured out what I'm getting myself yet (other than finally piercing my ears) but I want it to be jewelery and would love to buy one of your pieces.

I do, but they're on my other laptop, which I don't have access to at the moment since the power supply caught on fire. Yes, you read that correctly. I'll send you some when I get access again sometime next week, ok?

Happy early birthday! Any big plans?
