Last week, my bag, which I didn't like to begin with, ripped. Rather than pack everything into a temporary shopping bag and deal with it later, I figured I'd stop into the cute little luggage store in Coolidge Corner that I was near, and see what they had. Lo and behold they had a small black shoulder bag that a) actually easily stayed on my shoulder, b) had enough pockets, but not too many, c) was made out of a cool nylon fabric that made me feel like an urban basejumper, ready to fashion my bag into a parachute at any moment, and d) most importantly, was very un-purse-like.
Later that night, rather proud of my new non-purse, I brought it out with me to meet some friends. One girl looks at it and says, "Oh, Kipling...I remember those from high school!"
See, that's funny, because I remember people making me feel about 2 inches tall and very uncool in high school, so I guess we're both having flashbacks.
