Back from Belize, and real life is such a drag. Can't I dive and read and drink banana daquiries all day ALL the time? Or at least for longer than a week? The group worked out really, really well. I guess generally speaking I've had really good luck with group vacations, because I've heard some horror stories, but I must have perfect friends. I am ALL fired up for the next one. Plus I found out last night that a friend of mine is buying a house in Park City...clearly I can't let her be all alone out there, so next year there might just have to be TWO vacations, one skiing, one diving. Oh my god, I'm wet just thinking about it.
We lost our camera on the trip, so I'm going to have to steal other people's pics. *Poke* *Poke* I do have underwater pics, but haven't gotten them developed yet. I'm a pretty sketchy underwater photographer, so I don't expect them to be very good. The kidney infection thing was kind of a drag, but could have been a lot worse, so I was glad I didn't bail on the trip. There were two spectacular dives, and a few other great ones. I highly recommend that anyone going to Belize specifically to dive look into staying on one of the outer atolls - the diving was SO much better there. As
hiddenbear mentioned, we swam with wild dolphins at one point, which was the highlight of the trip for me. Or at least ranks evenly with the last night, which was more fun than I've had in a long time. We totally pissed off this old lady and enjoyed
every minute of it.
We got back from the club around 3am, after dancing for hours and drinking A LOT. DTM suggested we have chicken fights in the pool, me riding him and
hiddenbear acting as Christina's steed. Now, things were fairly even. HB has a height advantage on DTM, but I have a strength advantage on Christina. However, what I was not counting on was the sheer fury and viciousness Christina brings to a fight. She fights dirty, and she fights to win. First she headbutted me. I still have a perfectly circular small piece of skin missing from the bridge of my nose, as well as a lump. She followed that up with...wait for it...untying the top of my bikini. I was speechless, however, my good friend DB then untied her bikini bottoms, so we both frantically yelled retreat and our poniesstallions reversed to opposite corners. I was laughing SO hard, but I did manage to scream charge multiple times, kick DTM in the ribs, and hold onto his hair. All unconsciously. Needless to say, this woke up some people in rooms near the pool, and one woman who had been there all week with us actually came out of her room to yell at us. She kept walking closer and closer saying "what room are you in? who are you?!" And, this is my favorite part, HB goes..."Estelle, you know us, we've been talking to you all week!" She just stormed back into her room. We had miles of jokes off of her for the trip back. Thanks Estelle.
When we got back to the condo from the pool, Christina and I went to go jump on Justin, who of course was in bed, before drying off, and tell him about the fun. When I mentioned the bikini parts, he said "sounds like DTM and HB were the winners." I'm marrying such a funny guy.
Also, I got some good news, A's in both of my classes last term. I'm rather proud of the bio one because it's notoriously difficult to get an A in that class, and I really like the prof. I did much better on the final than I thought I did - what is my deal with post-final insecurity? This term looks to focus a lot on anatomy and physiology. YAY! I love that shiat, except for the labs, which I'm going to have to find some way around since they, of course, use animal pieces for dissection. Chemistry? Well, I have to take it, so I will. Right now we're doing lattice energies of crystals and crap like that. My chem ta is hilarious though because he LOVES it. He'll say stuff in class like, "oh, oh, you don't need this for the problem, but you should try this out just because it's fun!" And he's very sincere. Sigh, I can't even crack on him because he is like this little enthusiastic puppy.
