First off... With every school that you're looking into the information needs to be there. And although the websites provide a lot of information it's good to get it from other sources. Good thing you asked me. I used to be a tour guide for the school so I know more than most other students would.
Some advise: Look into the program that you're interested in. See what the classes are and what they offer. With MECA the first two years are foundations meaning you won't have your own studio and you'll have to take classes other that your intended major. Once you major as a junior and senio you get a studio space within the school. The first two years in Maine is really hard and requires a lot of dedication and hard work. Depending on how important for you to succeed you might be stay up many nights to finish your assignments. I know I do... still. The first two years are to prep you for your major... which becomes a lot harder.
For me MECA is worth my time and money because I found a program (metals/jewelry)that suits me. The faculty here are either professional artists or are accomplished writers. (Lib arts and Art History are 1/3 of the program). Not every art school has that.
Also the enviornment. A girl in my major was from Kentucky as well and she hated it here because it was too cold. It's not just the school, it's where you're living, the staff and faculty, and what you're going into that matter.
And also, if you decide not to stay at a school there's not shame in transfering. Credits transfer depending on the programs of the school.
