Did you know you have tabacco under your arms?

So I guess an update is in order, though I am feeling more in the mood for a rant; a feminist rant...

Abortion. Hot topic I know, but one that needs to be debated over and over again, until anti-abortionists realise that it is not their choice about what a stranger wishes to do to their body, their lives. The choice to not continue a pregnancy is only one persons and no one else has the right to say that it is not. No one has the right to force a woman to have an abortion, no one has the right to make abortion an unsafe option and no one has the right to judge a woman if she does or does not have an abortion.

Personally, I don't think any of the anti-abortion debates are really vaild. I mean, seriously, a cluster of cells is not a baby, it is more like a tumor. I use the word tumor because some tumors can be removed (even after growing) and the woman will be fine, and other tumors kill.

There seems to be a problem with modern medicine, that is, that it offers false security and people forget that pregnancy still kills women, still seriously injures women and is not always smooth sailing and is definately not pain free even with drugs.

I don't want to get into the religious debate over abortion because as far as I am concerned it holds no vaildity whatsoever. If it did then all women that use contraception would go to Hell, as some contraceptions (i.e. the IUD and morning after pill) actually cause an abortion to happen at such an early stage that it when it happens it seems like a period.

I just get so angry and worked up over this issue. No one has the right to impose their views upon anyone else. I can not believe that states in the USA have already banned abortion and that their are people here that want us to follow suit. I hate those mother fuckers that stand outside Lyndhurst and yell at the women and girls that enter that clinic. Even worse are the ones that pray for all the lost babies. Please, get a fucking brain and a job while your at it and fucking leave these people alone.

Personally, I have never had an abortion. I chose to have and keep my baby. I was well informed of all my options and I considered them all. But I had made a decision earlier that I was to be responsible for my actions, so I am. I own that responsibility everyday, and enjoy it now. What I know now is that if I were to get pregnant again I would have an abortion. I have had friends that have had abortions in the past and now have children say, that now that they have children they couldn't have an abortion, because they couldn't look into the eyes of their child and deny them. To me however, a cluster of cells does not have eyes to look into. I'm not saying that a zygote doesn't turn into a child, it definately does. But how many of us will squash a caterpillar but wouldn't kill a butterfly?

In the end, it comes down to personal choice. It is the pregnant woman's choice. And that choice should be well informed and avaliable. If you would never have an abortion yourself, that is your choice. Don't force it upon others. Don't think that your personal opinion should be made law. And don't turn a medical issue into a religious one. We don't need to be returning to the back alley practices.

Now that is out of my system... I shall start researching rape in New Zealand for Frances. Does anyone else notice that I am having serious Gender Studies withdraw?
