Ancestry up the ying yang!
So I just started working on our family tree. I bought a cool software program to enter it all into, which included a free year membership to ancestry.com. Thank gawd. This stuff tends to get confusing... especially when there is incorrect info on the existing family tree. But, I'm starting to sort it out... and am trying now to figure out when the spelling of our last name changed... which I believe to have happened with my Great Grandfather. And now I'm wondering why. Hopefully I'll get some answers on that soon.
One of the things I did discover is... our last name is NOT french! Hah. It's actually Scottish... well... kind of. It looks like the spelling drastically changed when they came over to the US. Another question I'd like answered.
I think working on Mom's side of the family is going to prove more difficult.
But, it's all very interesting... time consuming, but interesting.
