Eris and I have been spending a lot of alone time together lately. Leah has found a gaggle of friends a block or so away and spends most of her time over there and Eris tends to stay home more. She doesn't seem to mind and it's nice that they aren't fighting all the time, though she does seem a little lonely. Because of that she asks to spend more time with me which I am all for. She received an origami book as a gift a while back so we've been making lots of origami lately. Here is one of our most recent creations; frogs. With a set of bunny ears.
I have also been trying to teach Eris how to knit and crochet. It's hard because she is left handed, and I am not. I have successfully shown her how to crochet left handed (GO ME!) but knitting is far harder. We're going to get some new needles and crochet hooks and some thicker yarn and try again this weekend. But I can say she has successfully mastered the long tail cast on.
Now just need to get her to not drop her needles between each stitch and she'll be set.
In the small amount of free time that I have that isn't spent with Eris or doing junk around the house, I am crafting up a storm. I've started taking my knitting to work and have finished a few small items that are going to be Christmas gifts later. I've found I really enjoy knitting at lunch time. It causes me to slow down my eating and I enjoy my food far more. And I also seem to eat less. It's a habit I'm glad I've picked up.
Along with the knitting I am also working on this small project. Small in size, not effort mind you. This little project has inspired more swear words than any other project. Top stitching these buggers has been a nightmare! This was going to be a Christmas gift but I'm hoping to have it done by Thanksgiving so that the recipient can use it for her Thanksgiving dinner. Because look, they're leaves!
Also please notice the lovely fabric (on the left under the leaves) on my new ironing board. A gift from the wonderful
slinksgirl for my birthday. I am constantly using it now. I love love love it. It makes my projects so nicer as I have a dedicated spot to iron instead of having to rearrange my sewing table every time I switch between sewing and ironing. Lovely.
