several of you are totes into the whole dreamwidth thing, and are getting or already have accounts there. is anyone planning on leaving lj for dw? i know lj has done some pretty fucked up things in recent years, but i'm quite nicely settled here and don't have plans to pack up and move on any time soon. plus i guess it's hard(ish) to get an account ( Read more... )

It's really not hard to get an account anymore because every user now has five invites! Including me, if you want one.

i'm tempted, but i've had insanejournal and greatestjournal (which died a while ago?) accounts and they just sit there getting dusty, so i'll decline in case people who will actually use it want one. thanks though!

yeah! i actually have a present for you, that i saw and was like ooh! town needs that! hehe. buuut i have to wake up early tomorrow morning, so probably tonight would be a less than awesome idea. tomorrow or sunday? should we get strike in on this and rock some siedler?

well in that case, sure. dunno if i'll use it, but at the very least i can keep up with other folks who do. :)

eek. it doesn't strike me as particularly likely that that'd actually be a successful plan, but .... okay. :P gimme a minute and i'll call you. or should i just head over? oh and remind me to get some smart dogs! i checked lucky in ptown and they didn't have any. :(

zomg, i was thinking about it off and on for a while but with no leads and then suddenly remembered someone commenting on the latest ljlogin comm entry that DW allowed for >15 characters and it hit me like a lightning bolt -- my lj username, but spelled correctly! hahaha. now i wish everyone was moving over there. :P

except, ugh, the layouts. i cycled through each one several times trying to determine which was the least ugly/most customizable, but they're all pretty close in both categories. i'm thinking & hoping they'll have some new ones available soon, cuz i've never made my own layout or even used css to tweak a pre-existing one, so i wouldn't know where to start. :\ blahhhh.

They are coming out with new layouts. I'd just play with the colours and wait. But, well, read my latest post over there, it was a nightmare applying overrides to that orange and blue layout. Not written by a professional, at all. It's possible they used an editor and never looked at the raw code. Zesty has the cleanest code, actually.

OH! So, longer usernames, that's pretty nifty! There are a lot of cool things I've noticed about DW. But a lot of broken stuff too. It's a start.
