Wow.

So, that was only the second Bond movie I've sat through... and I gotta say, I really enjoyed it. A lot. So much, in fact, that I am ready to at least take a gander at some of the other Bond movies. At least Casino Royale and Golden Eye.

See... I was not really that interested in Bond growing up. I think a lot of that was because A)I really kinda didn't like movies much at the time and B) I was so interested in superheroes and video game characters who were heroes that Bond didn't really match up to the ideals that a lot of the heroes I thought of did. Unfortunately, Bond has been with a lot of women in so many of the movies that I kinda acknowledged him for his cool gadgets, but he wasn't really honorable.

Why on earth is that important?

I guess it's important to me because I'm reading this book by Robert Lewis about what manhood is all about... and the idea of Knighthood is the center of the book's discussion. Kinda funny that I've read the first part of it in one night... and that it was a book that I didn't even want to read initially. It is from a Christian perspective (which oddly enough, makes the analogy of Knighthood that much more fitting), but yeah. I would recommend it for people who are interested in the concept of manhood and such.

One of the points that really intrigues me is how there really isn't any kind of ceremony in society today (and I am talking specifically American Society) that notes a boy's passage to manhood. I would think the closest thing we've got is the Eagle Scout Ceremony. If anyone can think of anything else... please feel free to put it out there.

But I was thinking about how much knights live by a certain ideal and such. Very similar to that of samurai. Their values are different, but yeah. Can you tell that I'm probably more of an idealist than most people? Though, I think it's kinda funny how I acknowledge that, but I also don't really embrace it because I know that even ideals fall apart at times. I have this thought that idealists are people that really shouldn't be given power... at all... ever. The examples I cite are characters like Brutus from Julius Caesar, Elfaba (sp?) from Wicked (at least in the musical), Arthur Petrelli from Heroes, and Peter Petrelli.

Maybe Jae was right... I shoulda majored in Philosophy... even though I would rather not get swept up in the elaborate issues in philosophy because I would rather just shorten points and say something like "So basically, you think this... eh?" Maybe I'm just lazy. Maybe I also just don't want to get swept up in something that might be really wrong. ::sighs::

Anyhoo, I am gonna leave my update to that for now.

Oh... and before I forget... feel free to check this out when you get a chance. Heck... why not check this or this while you're at it. Good day people.
