Princes Part 6 (Kevin/Nick)

A/N: So... this was half written a long time ago and just barely pieced together on Tuesday....
Part 6: The Struggles within the Dark Prince.
Kevin was lost in those eyes. The blue oceans of emotions... Emotions he had seen before. A long time ago...
Before he knew what he was doing, Kevin lifted the blanks, his mouth opened and said, "Come here."
"Really?" Blue eyes sparkled.
"Yes." Kevin whispered, trying to disguise it with annoyance.
In a blink of an eye, the icicle of a blond was around the campfire and in makeshift bed of blankets with the dark prince. Kevin wrapped the blankets and his arms around cold body. Nick pressed back into the warm that surrounded him. As he warmed the blond's body, Kevin could only see the eyes and emotions of a time from the past.

Death. It was everywhere the youngest of the dark princes grow. Learning to kill, face death and enjoy it, both inflicting and observing it.
That was until his father, the Dark King, was killed in battle with the combined armies the lesser kingdoms. The only death Kevin had not been prepared for was that of his father. Forbidden tears fell from his eyes for weeks.
Kevin's brothers used Black Mirrors of Terror to show him his eyes and the emotions that filled them. They called him weak. They called him a baby. His mother called him human.
At bedtime, the Queen would show him a golden mirror and his own eyes. She would tell him it was human. She would tell him it was ok. Her love would get him thru the hours of sleep.

Aaron smiled. He felt someone else in Kevin's mind. Not right there like Aaron, but kind of like a thin mist coating and slightly influencing Kevin's soul. this presence seems to like Nick and that could only help him sway Kevin in Nick's direction.
There was still a darkness in Kevin pushing the two princes apart. The darkness seems to be repelling Aaron and weakening the other presence's influence over Kevin. Aaron wondered if the darkness was weakening now that there was more to fight.
Aaron was sure this darkness started weakening since he began this little plot and farther weakened it since Kevin met Nick.

As Kevin held the sleeping young man, the long forgotten voice of his mother filled his head, 'It's human, it's ok...'
Kevin fell into sleep as he felt warmth from Nick... not of the body, but of the heart. He never let himself realize they bodies fit perfectly together.
Kevin's mind was filled with thoughts of innocent eyes, his and Nick's.
Nearby, Kevin's sword darkened.

Aaron felt the darkness strength. He could feel it pushing him out of Kevin's mind. For the first time, he felt himself losing his connection to someone's mind.
Aaron was sure he was going to lose Kevin when he felt that other presence not only pull him back into Kevin's soul, but push him from outside as well. Someone was connecting with Kevin and helping Aaron.
This wasn't the same as Aaron's connection. Aaron's connection was forced by his own power, but this presence already had a link deep within the dark prince. The presence was link to Kevin from the beginning.
Aaron found himself back in Kevin's mind.

Kevin could once have been as innocent as Nick... Well, only when his mother was around. She was the only source of innocence and light in the eternal darkness of the Dark Kingdom. The King's darkness was expelled by the Queen's light in their youngest son.
The King's death allowed the Queen to hope for a new beginning with her sons... But it was too late for the eldest two. So she focused on her youngest.
Kevin would shift between the two opposites. Innocently grooming his horse one moment, then slashing a slave's throat the next for not feeding the horse.
The innocence stopped when his brother took the throne and banished the Queen to Dragon Caves along the Dark Kingdom's boarder with the Dragon Kingdom. With the Queen gone that eternal darkness consumed Kevin.

Aaron allowed himself to fall asleep. He hoped all the pieces fell into place. The next day will seal all their fates.
