UCLA orientation was amazing. Over the course of three days, I met more cool people and did more fun stuff than I think I've done in the last month and a half that I've been home.
The Theater kids were amazing, first of all. I was scared that they'd all be these super pretentious fuckers too busy reminding people about their "Craft" to be friends with a lowly techie (I can't believe I'm a techie now) such as myself, but instead they were all really fun, really outgoing, really fun-loving, and just... wonderful. Jill and I got along really well; we hung out a number of different times, but there was no issue where if she wanted to sit with someone else, or go do something with somebody else, there was tension. We had some great conversation over breakfast and coffee on Monday, I believe it was, and I felt genuinely glad that she and I were genuinely friends. ARE genuinely friends, I suppose I should say. And roomies!
There, I additionally met my best friend, my soulmate. LIZ STRAUS-- Theater major in for acting, from Cambridge, MA. She is the most amazing person! Totally just... outgoing and fun-loving, and fearless! She's this adorable little girl with the most white girl fro I have ever seen in my life, and this wonderful, warming smile. She and I have talked once a day at LEAST since we left each other just over a week ago, and she currently has the running tally of days left until we see each other again (I think at this point it's something like 22 days...)
In other exciting news, I met BOYS. Yes, boySSSSSSS. As in plural. As in more than one boy different from... well we won't even say his name. There's Mike, the adorable Russian-born frat boy from ZBT; and there is Jared, the USC Jew that Pat from Crepeville wanted to set me up with. Mike and I did a lot of flirting all three nights that the girls and I were at ZBT, and we actually had a little date-thing tonight in Berkeley; we ate Indian food on a Cal lawn, walked around Telegraph and Shattuck, and had coffee and dessert on some steps at Cal. It was pretty sweet and a lot of fun, and I've never been out with somebody as mellow as Mike before. Jared is a bit of a stoner-alcoholic, but has-- as Kelly put it-- a "dreamy" face, and this really deep sexy voice. He also came and got Liz and I on the freeway when I blew out my tire (on the GD 405 at 230 am no less) and spent two hours with me at Pep Boys while I got it fixed--> kind of attractive.
SO, as you can see, things are starting to look up.
