Figure I will give all you who read my journal an update on how my new job is going. For those of you who didn't know I started working at State Farm Insurance January 8, 2007. I work with 5 people I already know. I know them all from church. So I work in a Christian environment, which is great! I really like this job. I am a receptionist for that office. My duties are numerous and will be added upon once I get a good grasp on the ones I am doing. The first four days left me with a headache. Not because I was stressed out, so much as I was overwhelmed by the amount of information I was taking in. This isn't like any other job I have ever had. For one it is full time. Which oddly enough I kinda like, except that I miss all the spare time I had. LOL. Oh well. Second, at every other job, the process of training essentially meant I watched for some time (til I felt comfortable), then they watched me for a little while then I did it on my own. Well in this office the former receptionist had already moved on. And the rest of the individuals I work with are not receptionist, they take claims and actually deal with the insurance stuff. And eventually I will be dealing with the insurance stuff too. Which I am excited and nervous about. Lastly, I am not used to having my own little desk/cubicle to decorate/call my own. I really like this job and I look forward to what the future holds for me with the company. I really pray that I am successful and go far here, so that eventually I can move south and fulfil my dreams.
In other news...student loans are now due to start being paid off. Which is a rather expensive bill. I am trying to find a place that will allow me to consolidate my loans so I can have a lower monthly payment. So far I am having some difficulty finding such a place. My dad suggested trying to balance transfer all my loans onto a credit card with lower interest than what Sallie Mae is charging me then just having the credit card payment. So I have to look into that. If any of you have any suggestions of where else I could go to consolidate my loans please let me know. Oh...my loans were all PRIVATE, so federal consolidation will not work for me. I essentially screwed myself when I took private Sallie Mae loans. Any one out there about to take loans...DONT TAKE PRIVATE.
I fell down the steps of my house on sunday. That was kinda scary. Knocked the wind out of myself and got me a little wet(from the snow & ice). I hit my tailbone, back and arm during the fall. I was rather sore for two days. My arm seems to have taken the bulk of the beating, as it has a large bruise on it and nothing else shows any signs of injury (other than soreness). My brother(who is home for a week)walked me to my car and while I was sitting in there I started feeling dizzy, so I started to tap on the window to get his attention while he was scraping my car off. He thought I was just playing so he didn't see my black out. Which is exactly what proceeded to happen. I guess the combination of my not eating(I'm hypoglycemic remember) and the stress of falling led to that little episode. So I felt really nausious for a few hours on sunday morning and was sore til today really. But I think I am fine. No cause for alarm.
Well I think that is all. Hope you all enjoyed my little update. Guess I will talk to you all later.
