I have spend the past... oh, way to long, searching for AFI b-sides and covers online. I only actually found five, though. I found: "Synesthesia" (which is a 'Sing the Sorrow' b-side), another "Miss Murder" remix, "On the Arrow" (A Decemberunderground b-side), "Don't Change" (an INXS cover), and "Jack the Ripper" (a Morrissy cover).
My favoirites are "On the Arrow" and "Synesthesia". ... I think. I dunno... I like them all. It is like when I talk about the CDs, and I am like, "I like this song. ...and this one... and this one... aw, I just love them all." You know what I mean?
Anyways. Lyrics to "On the Arrow":
He said, "Who truly belongs here?"
"Not I," she said, "I'll lie here with you."
He knows no one shines forever,
They change with the weather.
He said, "I've now stayed too long here."
"Goodbye," she said, "I'll wait here for you."
He knows the winds carry sorrow
As they leave, she'll follow.
They leave tomorrow.
Fragments of joy torn apart,
A freshly drained heart that beats
Disguise themselves through him.
He'll say that it's nothing new
And swear this is true,
"For you, I'll swallow the ocean,
I'll swallow the ocean."
He said, "Who truly belongs here?"
"Not I," she said, "I'll lie here to you:
I know the sorrow is sacred
And I'll never break you
I'll softly save you."
Fragments of joy torn apart,
A freshly drained heart that beats
Disguise themselves through him.
He'll say that it's nothing new,
And swear this is true,
"For you, I'll swallow the ocean,
I'll swallow the ocean"
When I hear "Endlessly, She Said" I immagine a guy who left a girl (like, literally, not ended their relationship), because he needed to do something, and the girl said she would wait for him, but then he comes back and she is gone. Like, he is that kind of people who travels and explores a lot and has a ton of adventures and never stays in one place for too long.
And then when I hear this song, in my head, it is like it is what came before that. Like, the drifter/explorer dude found a love, so he decided to stay with her. but then after a while, he is restless and he needs to go. but he still really, really loves her. He just cannot stay in one place for so long. And she says that she understand and that it is okay, and she says to go, and she will be there, waiting for him when he comes back.
And I mean, I may just be insaine, but that could be it, I mean, it was written with the batch of songs for 'Decemberunderground'.
But yeah. It really is a pretty song. Davey has such a nice voice.
I decided that I want to slow-dance to "Don't Change." It is sweet. The words:
I'm standing here on the ground
The sky above won't fall down
See no evil in all direction
Resolution of happiness
Things have been dark
For too long
Don't change for you
Don't change a thing for me
I found a love I had lost
It was gone for too long
Hear no evil in all directions
Execution of bitterness
Message received loud and clear
Don't change for you
Don't change a thing for me
I'm standing here on the ground
The sky above won't fall down
See no evil in all directions
Resolution of happiness
Things have been dark for too long
Don't change for you
Don't change a thing for me
yay. pretty. I like. I kinda want to hear the original version now...
