· Jumper (AUS) = Sweater (USA)
· Sweater (AUS) = Someone who sweats a lot; or a word for 'jumper' that an Australian might use if they're trying to sound American on purpose, something that annoys the hell out of me (unless it's funny!)
· Jumper (USA) = Pinafore (AUS); or 'baby jumpsuit' or 'person who commits suicide'
· Sloppy joe (AUS) = Sweatshirt (USA)
· Sloppy joe (USA) = A burger with sloppy meat (kinda like the minced beef in bolognese) instead of a beef patty.
I had a sloppy joe in Newfoundland once. It was OK. A 'loose meat' sandwich - now that's another thing. Even if it's the same thing, it reminds me of Roseanne and of dreams where your teeth are loose and fall out. Loose teeth aren't appetising.
Maybe I've got some of this wrong and I'm going to die never being sure. I bet I am.
