A 45 Kinda Day.

I feel so bad for this guy on SoulSeek. I'm downloading a Dirtbombs album off him, two by two, yet every mp3 he tries to get from me keeps failing. I don't get why. Another guy got a few saucy tracks just before him no sweat. And, no, I deffo do not know that either of them isn't a girl. I always reckon I can tell by sussing out someone's record collection but ya CAN'T.

Sanjeev, the producer, is Kenji's alter-ego. He wears a neckerchief and a beret, and he smokes a cigarillo.

Anyway, this album, Ultraglide in Black, is slaying me. How'd they make funk work for them? I haven't listened to the Dirtbombs since about 1998 and it's impossible that a decade could have passed but it would seem as though it has. I silently thank elbz every time I play any of the bands he put on the first CD-R I ever received. (Why are we not still in touch? That guy had a brilliant mind and even brilliant-er taste. He also shared college classes with Chelsea Clinton, which is neither here nor there, yet vaguely interesting just the same.)

A neat street not far from us. I want to go back with a bucket of soapy water and tend to this sign. Wash it nice and clean. Yes, that would satisfy immensely.

I've been busy completing one of my art projects for the Summer School - in fact, I've done it twice now - so I've been on and off Photoshop, the www, my camera and mobile phone in order to get it done, and because I like nothing more than indulging in a bit of self-sabotage, I thought I'd stop doing that for a while and post two of my photos here instead. All three pics here have the number 45 in common, and it's completely incidental; I didn't plan it. Why would I? That'd be dumm.

Glow-by-headlight house numbers save lives - and embarrassment by dinner party tardiness.

These are two of the weakest photos of the batch, but then that's not the point; we were supposed to photograph things on a local walk that we wouldn't normally notice, but I only ever notice things I wouldn't normally notice. (Ain't nothing normal about this LJ-er, no no no, etc.) I will endeavour to link to the whole collection when I'm finished organising it. There's some great pics amongst them. Most are snaps of municipal council fixtures: metal, wood, cement, paint, bitumen, dying grass, bins, pallets... Also some dead balloons.
