I'm having the nicest weekend. Hung out at home yesterday, did some laundry, can't remember what else even though it was only yesterday. Today we hung out in the morning then drove over to Balgowlah Heights in the arvo. My niece turned 9 today. Kenji had a ruff'n'tumbly time with Bella, his cousin. Bella rounds him up like sheep, steps (lightly) on him, and nips him round the scruff of his neck. She's so big (a rough collie) that Kenji can only get as far as the scruff of her chest. One of the presents we gave my niece was The Bridge to Terabithia (the book, not the DVD) and she was halfway through it by the time we left. Didn't realise she was quite that much of a reader. So glad she is though.
Took more photos for my inaugural zine which, if I haven't already said here, has been 20 years in the making. Sadly, I don't mean it has 20 years' worth of goodness packed into it; just that it's taken me two decades to get one printed up already. And it's not even printed yet! But I've got most of the content and I will make this one happen. I've made about three zines over the years that I never completely finished or had printed 'cos I wasn't satisfied with them. This one has a different intention, different boundaries, different challenges. This one's easy. When it's ready to print I'll provide ordering info in case anyone (everyone!) wants to get one.
Do I seem spacey? Am I writing in a different voice? Does this read weirdly in the context of all my other posts over the years? I've just joined Facebook - I capitulated - and I found an old school friend, a girl I've been looking for online for years - on and off. It's really got me spun out and I feel like I'm in a mild version of shock. I saw a photo of her! She looks like herself... but older! She's got lines on her face! The softness of youth has gone! She looks more like her (very attractive) mum! I'm spinning out! Fuuuck!
