After being distracted and flaily for the past 48 hours...

...what better way to help calm myself than going to watch X Files 2: I Want To Believe.

...

Turns out this plan of mine had a major flaw as I had never seen Callum on the big screen before. Hi. I am speshul. AND I AM SO GLEEFUL RIGHT NOW. \o/ I may have had a wee bit too much sugar too. Ahem.

The movie. Well, okay, it's about what I was expecting after reading reviews and seeing reactions to it about the place. It was just like an extended episode of the show, and for me it could maybe have done with a bit less of the Scully story and more about the crazy Frankenstein doctors, because hello! Weirdness! That is what the XFiles was supposed to be about. I never cared much whether Mulder and Scully got it on, I just wanted to see the aliens, the conspiracies, all those shenanigans.

For IWTB, the only weird is in the form of women being abducted by crazy bad guys who are then doing bodypart transplanting to help save their cancer-riddled boss/Janke's boyfriend-husband. Oh and the FBI find this out from the psychic priest Father Joe (Billy Connolly, what were you thinking?!). Uh. Huh.

Callum was of course great in his role as Janke, I wish they'd given him more to work with. I knew he was playing a Russian character, but it was still a surprise when he opened his mouth and started shouting in Russian. Wow. I don't know how accurate he was, but it certainly sounded believable to me. *is easily impressed* Also? Callum being all grrr and manly? Win. WINWINWIN. Apart from the teeth. Not win. But anyway...

I didn't think the movie was too bad, though it wasn't scary at all - I jump at everything for I am a scaredy cat. However, if Chris Carter opts to make another one, I hope he goes down a different route...and invites Callum back again. :D

neverending flail, ckr movies, movie watching
