In honour of the Labyrinth of Gedref references in this episode, I chose an icon with one of the most memorable scenes from that episode. ♥ I got the hand signs and them seeing a mouse/rat as references to LoG, but thanks for pointing out the scene where they drink the potions. I love when there are little references to old episodes especially to episodes in S1, a season I'm fond of...maybe mostly for nostalgia reasons, but still -- the OT4 days of Merlin/Arthur/Morgana/Gwen in S1 were golden.
LOL at the location, location, location line about Morgana. I wonder where she'll end up next too. Her choice of dwellings *is* concerning...but creepy castle was a step up a bit from her previous two homes (maybe because it's a castle, that counts for something, right?).
I enjoyed the Arthur and Merlin scenes in this episode too. The poetry thing is now on the list of my funniest Arthur/Merlin moments. *giggles* *high fives Merlin*
Merlin stops him by reminding him that it’s powerful magic. Poor Merlin looks so confused. He’s getting his Merlin Continuity Book out of his knapsack to check on how Arthur feels about magic in this point of the series. He thinks he’s missed his own reveal where Arthur reacts badly and then forgives him and now allows magic. For a second I almost get worried that they did the reveal in that three year gap.
YES. I agree, poor Merlin. I was a bit confused too. If Arthur seems to be okay with magic, why does he still have the magic ban in place? Or did he relax those laws a bit in the three years we didn't see? Maybe the ban isn't completely lifted, but he allows the chance for fair trials or something like that? Then again, Arthur chose magic to aid his father last season when magic was still banned like you said in your review.
I think this makes for an interesting fic -- Merlin does somehow miss his own reveal (maybe he just wasn't paying attention?) and he's confused why Arthur's so accepting of magic. Could be fun to play around with. ;)
Your icon is my favourite scene ever. Not just for content, but for how it looked. It was just stunning and perfect. I loved the little LoG references. It did make me very nostalgic. I think we've had a few things happen since then which I grit my teeth together at, but we've also had a lot of good too. However, I do love that episode, so it was nice that it got such a blatant shout out.
Yeah, the Creepy Castle would have been a keeper once someone had run the hoover around and given it a lick of paint. Good luck to her trying to find a place where she can have pets.
Yeah, the 'Arthur's views on magic' slightly irked me a bit. Most of the rest of the episode was brilliant, so I will let it slide, but they need to tighten up that consistancy a bit.
I definitely like the idea of Merlin missing his own reveal somehow and being really befuddled over how everyone is reacting to him.
