They were totally looking at at Gaius' crotch at that point and paused! I'm glad it wasn't only me. They have no innocent gestures on this show. I know their game. I'm on to them!
I'm glad it wasn't only me making the connection of Merlin feeling alone. It wasn't really referenced, but the connotations of the scene were definitely there, especially if you fit in other little parts of the episode. This episode was a lot about how Merlin fitted in; with Arthur, the Knights, Gaius and in his role. The Stranger assumed he didn't fit in anywhere, he was wrong in the most part because Merlin does and he is happy where he is, but obviously hiding part of himself makes him feel isolated. When Arthur knows and is happy with Merlin having magic, that isolation will go away. they will both be in unique and very different roles, but raising Albion (and Aithusa) together.
Sister Wendy! Of course. She must have been creative consultant on the episode. I'm sure she's in the credits somewhere.
The bit where they were wrestling in front of the coucil was great! Just the coucil's faces, like they are aware of the King's slightly unusual relationship with his servant, so they aren't even that shocked. They're just waiting for it to be finished so they can finish talking about Odin and the Northern borders. Poor Arthur. He was sounding so regal at the beginning of that scene. I really, really like Nathaniel Parker in that scene. His face as Agravaine was brilliant. It will be interesting to see his reaction to Merlin actually. Uther used to treat Merlin like a dimwitted puppy that followed Arthur about, I wonder if Agravaine will get wind of the fact Merlin has the ear of the King and may make his evil plans harder.
Yep, I've think you've got it right why this season has worked so far. All the stories, whether explicitly or not, have been about Arthur and Merlin and they way their paths are intertwining. I think it's fine for people to favour secondary characters, but then the show is called Merlin. You can't be to shocked when it concentrates on him. There are secondary characters who I really like too, but I understand their role.
I thought Merlin/Arthur was canon?!! ;) Well, no, maybe not in everyones eyes, but seriously...it kinda is, isn't it? Who does Arthur end up with at the end? Who is the show beating us over the head with having a destiny together. Who has a piggin dragon baby together? If that's not canon, I frankly don't know what it. The show's about Merlin/Arthur, I totally respect everyone else having a different opinion, but that's what I saw when I started watching the show, I wasn't and still aren't looking for it. But if it's there it's there.
Yeah, I'm interested to see a bit more of Agravaine now. He's been lurking around in the shadows, I'd like to see a bit more of his motives. Also, Merlin and Gaius are on to him, so that should be interesting.
I think Morgana won't know about Merlin in episode 6. If Morgana knows the first thing she will do is let Arthur know somehow. I think she's just using Merlin because of how close he is to Arthur and he's been a bit of a pain in the arse to her.
It's interesting how Morgana hasn't sensed of worked out Merlin has magic yet. I think it goes to show an innocent face can work wonders. Not many people figure out Merlin has magic unless he tells them. I think it's because of the position he is in as a servant. There is a certain arrogance of everyone else in not really understanding he would do that by choice, not circumstance.
