Buffalo is weird....

Buffalo.... is.... weird....

The past week or so feels like it's been months.

I moved into our lovely new home on the fourth of July... which was just wonderful planning on my part.... our new house is 3 stories tall, has 4 bedrooms .. which somehow we have already filled... lots of pretty new appliances,etc.... I never thought I would get excited about central air... or off street parking.... but now I have....

Everything is still in boxes or sprawled out on the floor becuase I started work 2 days after we moved and I've had Nick busy doing things like put together his desk, find out where our grocery store is, make the 1340384028th trip to lowes for something ELSE we've forgotten, hang blinds, fix the leaking sink, etc etc etc... I still cannot believe I live here and from the looks of it; will for at least 3 years.... my goal is to have everything organized by the time Rania shows up... which is the week of our wedding..

So far work has just been orientation and it has been so bizzare being the "exotic" one.... "WHOOOAAA YOURE FROM MAIIIIINNNNEEEE?????? DO PEOPLE EVEN LIVE THERE?????" yadda yadda yadda.... like on our "get to know others" sheet you were suposed to found someone who was born in the same town as you.... I didn't even bother looking.... the closest I came was Alabama.... soooooo ... unlikely

Now that we have moved further in orientation I've started to become friends with some new people... like.. Tiawana... who is really nice but I'm not sure I can relate to... she has a 7 year old and a 1 year old... and she's my age and she still made it through nursing school... GO HER... I felt like I barely made it through and I have zero kids..

One thing I noticed yesterday in our skills lab was that they call all sorts of things different names then I do so I can baaarelllyy follow.... like... Heparin trap.... I call that a Saline lock... so of course I'm not following the conversation because everytime they call it a trap I picture a lobster trap on someones arm or a chinese finger trap or some other such trap before I have a chance to redirect my brain...

Another thing I learned..... if you sit on your front porch absolutely EVERYONE that walks by will talk to you... even if they are out of their minds and were just walking down the street screaming for no reason....also... there are no chinese resturants to speak of in like a 50 mile radius of my house... and I'm in the city... go figure... I'm still living right near the water... but... different... it's the canal... but there are paths you can walk on and a park right there....there is a place right near the lowes we go to thats called cheeburger cheeburger.... and I'm not spelling it wrong... nick and I laugh every time we see it but Nick really wants to try it.. the grocery stores are Wegmans... to be called "weggies" and tops... but apparently wggies trumps tops... even though they are literally next door to each other... and I don'tmean down the street... but ... they infact share the same parking lot... call me a small town girl but I was excited to go in my first two story mall.... it's bizzare and you should never do so if you don't want to spend money... everything is heated with gas not oil here... also odd to me.... and there is this weird sugar/fruit drink served at the resturants... I cannot remember what it's called something-berry.. but its sugary and good... the bad part of the city is called the "fruit belt" becuase every street name has a fruit for a name.... so if you see grape street.... lock your doors and hurry through... which makes me wonder if there is a tomato street... or if they decided it was a veggie.... and the number one thing I learned.... I need my TOMTOM to be able to get ANYWHERE... seriously... anywhere... so much so we bought another TOMTOM so that Nick has one in his car as well for when we both go out...

now that I have wasted all this time I should get back to cleaning and unpacking... c'est la vie

much love
