A name that stuck in my mind
Andy McGaffigan. For some reason in the late 1980's I added this name to my collective consciousness. Was it a real person or a figment of my imagination? I had vague recollections of casting him as a hard luck pitcher in a story that never got off the drawing board. Thanks to the wonders of the Internet one came do a search.
I typed in McGaffigan for starters as I had not a clue how many existed. Lo and behold there is Andy McGaffigan, a pitcher. His major league career started in 1981 and concluded roughly ten years later. I surmise I had him on a baseball card or saw the name on a roster of a team playing against the Mariners.
