Ah, the joys of 5th grade theatre.
This musical's headed for the Tony's.
It's called, "California Missions 'n' More", with many show-stoppin', toe-tappin' tunes such as,
-We're Makin' a Movie ("A movie about missions. Missions! A movie everyone will love! A movie all our fans will adore!")
-We're Gonna Make A Mission Out Of Sugar Cubes
-Frankly, I'm Tired of Cattle ("You think us ranchero wives have it easy, but when our husbands come back from the range, they stinky!")
-Missions, Presidios, Pueblos! (The thre-step process of imperialism)
-Statehood ("Yay, Statehood!! Now we finally get a cool nickname like the rest! The Golden State [Yee-haw!] THe Golden state [yee-haw!] We're so glad to join the u-u-nion!")
-Gold Gives Me Heartburn
and my personal favourite,
Don't Call Me an Indian. ("Don't call me an Indian, because we're not the same. Some of us live by the water, and I live on the plains. And I love acorns! ACORNS, WHEE!")
Yeah. So this is what gets kids hooked on musical theatre? Nice.
