"Iced venti Americano," the barista called out on Friday morning.
Going to reach for it, my hand collided with another grasp. It was enough to wake me out of the daze. Around 9am on every weekday, at this very Starbucks, I get the same thing. I rarely hear other Americano orders, usually mine comes in between some latte, frap, or other foofy drink.
I looked to see a cute dude reaching for my drink! It was the same dude I'd noticed behind me in line. Seeing the confusion, the barista calls out, "Oh there are two iced venti Americanos, another one is on the way."
My quadruple-espresso-shot-over-ice-in-the-morning partner recognized me as being ahead and nodded for me to go ahead and take it. I don't really know why it was so amusing to me to meet someone else with a similar preference in caffeinated morning jolts. I wonder if he's a local or the standard tourist, I swear 80% of the people in line there are right from the nearby hotel. I should have asked when I literally ran into him later that day as I was turning the corner from Wal-Greens during lunch.

"He's the kind of guy that would kick you while you're tanning." Mark took my Bodega Bay hiking story and made one of the finest euphemisms for the socially retarded. It's quite fabulous. Too bad we never got to bust out the, "Oohhh I copy and paste you gurrrl!" that we'd readied for further adventures mingling with the internet-linked gays.
That was just bizarre, I wasn't expecting the foreign turnout. I thought I was about to get a magic carpet ride after rubbing the right way. Back, back, forth and forth. And tan-kicker was even at that party, we got to play make-believe with him for a while. I wish I had been more on my game, but I guess not drinking so heavily puts me even further back as a lightweight. Goddamnit, two drinks at the house and one at the party and I'm blacking out!? Weird. But oh well, even on my worst game I'd still be able to know that wearing a "BUD" shirt is going to get some marijuana references. You hot idiot.

So back to my hiking to Bodega Bay - it even included a swim in Bass Lake! That was so awesome. It was a great group of guys, about 15 of us, and an unforgettable Michelle. I'll have to post some pictures later. The weather here has been amazing and it made for beautiful shots of the Pacific Coast. A few guys I'd never met before and made a couple of buddies out of them. Paul and I shared a car on the way there. I had a bonding moment and he quickly became my swimming/lunch buddy. He's probably about to hit 40 if he hasn't already, and he's so accomplished it's amazing. He's traveled the globe, plenty of times for work, and runs some software company. He emailed me after the hike to say hi and asked what I was doing today. Once Will and I were done hanging at Delores, I went to 440 and said hi to Paul, also ran into Andy and saw Marcos (both were fundraising for their track team to make it to the Gay Games in Chicago). Is everyone going to that? Seems like it. On the way back home, saw Mark from Pink and got an invite to a City Hall VIP Pride Party with the gay celebs, I'm going to ask about a +1.
I can't wait for the MidWest to come here, particularly a Mr. Ohbf. I spent the earlier part of today preparing. This Pride is going to be so much fun, I'm so excited for him to share it with me!
