This was all made while the cooks were heavily sedated by many glasses of white wine. This was also the first attempts at large-caliber holiday cooking for both cooks. Not only was no one harmed in the process, all food came out exceptionally close to dishes "just like Grandma/Mom/Obscure Relative would make". All food was deemed excellent to the taste buds and most importantly, edible...even the homemade rolls which Cook Donna was really wringing her paws over. Nonetheless, dinner served with both red and white wine in hopes that if dinner was inedible all would be to sloppy to notice. Christmas music on constant rotation. Real, live, richly-scented, six-foot Christmas tree (bought from the church so proceeds would benefit childrens' choir) well-lit with presents that Santa brought underneath (Santa knew I needed new panties and MAC Lipglass!). Cooks and guests stuffed themselves 'til painfully bulging, then sprawled on couch and floor to watch "A Christmas Story" together. Cook Donna passed out for duration of movie. Then, when the snow stopped falling and a quiet, nighttime hush fell over the city, all went out to the park with the towering, comforting steeple of Riverside Church and Grant's Tomb (Tomb's Grant!, one sloshily yelled). Snowballs, snowangels, snow-diving, snow-rolling down hills, snow facials, snow-limbo, snow-slip, -slip, -slipping, while the trees, shrouded in white, watched over them.
